ACG Partner Marla Grossman was invited by the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) in conjunction with the Songwriters Guild of America (SGA) and Music Creators North America (MCNA) to address a gathering at a Town Hall and Mixer at the Cutting Room in New York City on June 16, 2022 to discuss the music creators’ recent victories in Washington DC and to outline critical issues still facing composers, lyricists and songwriters. Ms. Grossman spoke of recent music licensing victories resulting in greater compensation to independent and small business music creators as well as other recent policy accomplishments in Washington DC that will reverberate throughout the creator community. As June 16 was also the opening day of the first Copyright Small Claims Court in the United States, audience members had an opportunity to celebrate this historic event that will provide music creators with an inexpensive and efficient alternative to litigation when their works have been infringed.
